Open gyms and classes

Just FYI the Hilliard gym is now offering open gyms and classes. You should be getting more information at practice this week but I wanted to put out a reminder for classes and open gyms.

Let me know if there is a group of you that would like a class set up just for you. I will get a staff member set up for your class. If you carpool with someone and need to take a class together let us know. We need at least 3 in a class to create one. I will need to know time and day. Just send me an email at mpacoaches@yahoo.com

Partner stunting will be coming soon! I have to wait till football season is over when my collegiate fellas have free time. Keep checking back for more info!

OSU Open practices

Just FYI if you are interested in going to check out an OSU open practice here is some more information. OSU has a new coaching staff this year. You can look up the new staff and teams at http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=1378962

In the past you were only allowed to watch these open practices. There is no participation. HOWEVER if you go they may ask for volunteers OR you can meet some of the OSU cheerleaders and get your foot in the door. Ask questions and you may want to start looking for a partner to stunt with. The girls are just as useful as the fellas so talk to them both! The OSU cheerleaders have been invited to work out at our Hilliard location. We hope to see them working their nationals routine there. We shall see! Check out the info below!

The Ohio State University Cheerleaders have set up 2 dates in the fall quarter that we will open to incoming cheerleaders, or future cheerleaders. If you are interested in attending a practice to watch, the following dates for the fall quarter are available:

November 3, 2009 - 6:30 - 7:30
December 1, 2009 - 6:30 - 7:30

More dates will be available in the future. The location of the practice is the French Field House on Lane Avenue.

CLINICS DATES:
Sunday February 21st 10am-1pmS
aturday March 6th 1pm-3pm

Note from Heather

Alright not too bad tonight ladies! I really expected you guys to return after a week off not knowing what is going on. So hooray, you knew most of it! Everyone scroll down and work on knowing your cheer. That part was a disaster! I am not sure if there was many that even knew the words. Watch the video and refresh your brains on the words and the actual motions before next sunday.

Ok so now you know the whole routine... this routine is going to be tiring but it is going to be good! Everyone work on your stamina in the routine and being able to throw tumbling at the beginning, middle and end. No exceptions! In college cheerleading they expect you to be able to throw that standing tuck right after stunting and doing a band dance at a 2 hour game. Your routine is only 2.5 minutes so I am sure if you work hard at it you can do it! :)

Good job ladies! See you next sunday!
Cheers,
Coach Heather

PS> look for updates for open gyms and classes. If you have a preferred day/time please send an email to mpacoaches@yahoo.com

I am going to try to put all of the elements from your routine in order so that you can see how everything fits together. Some of you seem confused as to how this all fits together. Hopefully, this will help you get it all on the same page.

The first thing that happens is the chant. You will have pom poms during this part of the routine.

The next thing that happens in the routine is the opening of the first music.

From here you guys will do team r/o tuck as a team. After that is the short dance that happens in the first music before your jump series.

Your Jumps are the next section. The video from that choreography was already uploaded on a previous post. The jumps are the end of your first music.

Here is the Cheer! It happens right after the jumps.

Whew! That's a lot of videos. This Sunday we will teach you your second music. There will be a short opening, running tumbling and your dance. We will spend most of the time teach you your dance. In addition to these items, we also need to cover the tumbling at the begining of the first music. There's still a lot of work to do so come ready to work! You all have done a great job of reviewing the material and look great so far! Almost there!!!

Routine looking great!

Hello Bears! Routine is looking great! I know it is a lot of routine to learn but you guys are doing fabulous! Practice your counts on your own so you know them for Sundays. We will keep adding to the routine until song #2 is finished. You have dance and tumbling left. I know this routine is difficult but you guys will score well with all the difficulty in it. Every standing tuck is important and everyone having super jumps will really help this team do well. Sharp motions and diva attitudes within the routine will take you far! This is your year if you truly want it. Work hard and you will have a great season!

See you Sunday!
Coach Heather

Ok Golden Bears! Here is the video from the first day of choreography. You'll find your jump series with just the counts and then one with you ladies acutally doing the jumps. Make sure that you review the material on here so that we are able to move on when we come in on Sundays!

I had some technical difficulties with downloading the material from last week. I hope to be able to get the dance (that we learned last week) and the opening, cheer and chant (that we plan to teach tonight) posted after your practice tonight!

You're doing a great job of picking up this material quickly. Keep up the great work!
